Spring has sprung! Spring is a time of renewal and growth and with the warmer weather here, if you’re thinking of sprucing up your home or garden, I have some tips to get you started.
Tip 1: Clean up and clear out
They don’t call it a “spring clean” for nothing. Start off with a fresh new beginning for the season by deep cleaning each room and decluttering while you are at it. Don’t forget to change the shower curtain.
Tip 2: Add colour
Whether it’s a new paint colour, bright wallpaper, switching out cushions or quilt covers, add new vibrant colour this season. While the dark colours felt cosy for winter, it’s amazing what a new colour palette can do for a space with the start of a new season.
Tip 3: Stimulate the senses
Switching out candles, placing flowers in vases or adding some live plants can easily be done in every room. Pick the right plants for the amount of light for each space.
Tip 4: Update the outdoors
You don’t need a full renovation here, but after giving the patio furniture and BBQ a good clean, look at adding some colourful bits and pieces such as an outdoor rug, cushions, wall art, a large pot with colour flowers, a citrus tree and don’t forget a new fun door mat too.
Tip 5: Upgrade
Changing the hardware in the kitchen and updating lighting fixtures can make a huge difference to a space. Look into current trends and have some fun with it.
Tip 6: Shape up!
Write a list of things that need fixing or maintenance, breaking it down into manageable jobs and get stuck in. The list could include for moss that needs to be removed, weeding, a house and driveway wash or window cleaning. Perhaps some landscaping wouldn’t go amiss too.
Whatever the jobs, it all adds value to your home and when the time comes to sell in the future, it won’t be too overwhelming to get on top of the jobs. If you ever need recommendations for local experts to help, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Happy spring cleaning!
